This is the album cover for the upcoming new release from rock outfit The Killers. Release (US) is scheduled for the 24th November.
The Almost Famous
A cool article I was linked to about the top 10 alt-rock bands that should have been famous, but instead influenced many other bands to become the big acts they are today.

And thus the battle was done.
Not a bad night, not a bad night at all.
Was a little surprised to find quite a que outside club CiXi come 2300, good to see people once again getting behind the local bands here.
I somewhat question Cixi's location as one for holding gigs, felt a bit narrow to me, but then again I guess to the bands it would edge them on that much more as it would have looked quite crowded from up on stage me thinks.
There were also a couple sound hiccups , but hey where isn't there right?
So there were 11 bands in the finals only playing 2 songs. I think it's hard to judge a bands capabilities with only 8 minutes to go. I reckon more heats and the final round being less bands being able to play at least a 4 song set is the way forward.
My top three performances of the night were Hungry Ghosts, Qasar (sp?) and Amino Shower.
Hungry ghosts came runners up , so I guess I have a LITTLE bit of an eye for talent.
The winners were Killer Soap. An interesting decision. No doubt had good energy levels, and the singers demands for "more fucking noise" were met with great joy by the punters.
However if they are going into the next few rounds representing Hong Kong , I hope they step up their game a bit more. Still worthy contenders to fly the flag though. (TURN UP YOUR GUITARS ALSO.)
So the China finals are held at the cavern on the 25th. Come down.
I was going to go down to underground 681/2 , but I'm not gonna lie to you, I'm too hungover for another night out, which is a bummer as I was hoping to go check the awesome house band at Amazonia after.
NOW those guys have got some fucking talent.

Put on my blue suede shoes and I boarded a plane ... well ferry
Getting ready to go out tonight which will be awesome for many different reasons.
1. I haven't left the toxic bay of discovery for entertainment purposes , in too long
2. Battle of the bands final!
I'm especially looking forward to catching some buddies of mine on stage, Hungry Ghosts and ... I'm not sure exactly what band he's in but he's playing guitar for one of the other contestants.
Booze,Tunes,LKF what could possibly go wrong?

Love for October <3
I currently came across a band ,from New Brunswick New Jersey, called "The Gaslight Anthem"
And boy are they just goshdarnswell.
They mix an interesting blend of punk/soul/pop and blues.
Singer /Guitarist : Brian Fallon , has a gritty punk voice that will hold its own amongst any of the big name punk vocalists. What sets TGA apart from most other bands though, is that this rough, coarse yet extremely melodic voice is being used to blend with music much more harmonious than one would associate with the singing style.
TGA sing about modern day working class issues and first romances, in that nostalgic manner of Springsteen or Petty. (If you search through youtube you can find a decent cover of American Girl by TGA)
"The 59 Sound" is their current release under Sideonedummy records. Full of some great anthems that will make you want to jump into the buick with Betty lou and grab a milkshake from the diner, before heading out to lovers lane.
PLEASE listen to The Gaslight Anthem.
