The Realm of Music Summary

Good day.

It has been a while since we have done an update on what's been going on in the music world outside of HK's hazy shores.

So here's some buzzworthy snippets of news and updates we have gathered from the twitternet.

-Blink 182 are reuniting! It seems that Travis Barkers plane crash on September 19th, 2008, brought the feuding ex pals together. At the recent 2009 Grammy Awards the trio (Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker) announced that they would play music together again.

Be interesting to see if Delonge puts an end to his beloved Angels and Airwaves. Same for Hoppus and Barker's band "+44'

The Poet himself Bob Dylan will be releasing his thirty third studio album , titled "Together through Life". The penciled in release date is set for April 28th. Apparently the die hard Dylan followers have started to dissect each and every part of the album name and cover.

-Former front man of Soundgarden and Audioslave, Chris Cornell , recently had his new solo album (Scream) taken the piss out of, by Nine Inch Nails man Trent Reznor (via Reznors Twitter account.) Reznor expressed that listening to Cornell's Scream was like was like “that feeling you get when somebody embarrasses themselves so badly YOU feel uncomfortable” Scream was produced by hip hop powerhouse Timbaland.

-Legends Kiss plan to hit the studio to record what devil man Simmons calls a "Meat and Potatoes" album, basically meaning a classinc 70's rock vibe. He also confirmed that this latest album, the first since 1998's Psycho Circus, will be produced by fellow kiss member Paul Stanley.

- Jack White of the White Stripes and The Racounters recently debuted his new band "The Dead Weather." If you were excited like me to hear more of Whites awesome guitaring, tame those emotions. White plays drums in this band. Check it out at http://www.thedeadweather.com/.

-RocknRoll Jesus (self acclaimed) Kid Rock, who has been enjoying quite the comeback recently due to his hit single "All Summer Long" which basically plays on people's love for Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama," Has announced summer tour dates with Skynyrd themselves. Possibly his way of saying thanks for your riff?

-Recently at the Grammys, Radiohead played a rendintion of their song "15 Steps" off of their "In Rainbows" release. Yorke and crew put on quite a show, however managed to somehow offend pop sensations, Miley Cyrus and later Kanye West by "snubbing" them whilst backstage. Apparently Cyrus and West wanted a bit of chit chat, and the legends that are Radiohead were having none of it. Wah wah wah.

-To end this little round up, I will reccomend readers who enjoy listening to acoustic/folk music to check out new artist Lisa Hannigan. Fans of Damien Rice will be no stranger to Hannigan's name, as she was the airy angelic voice which appeared on several of Rice's tracks on both "O" and "9 Crimes." She also played several instruemnts when she was still part of Damien Rice's touring band. After the two parted ways, she landed a spot in Jason Mraz's backing band last year before starting to work on her own solo career. Hannigan has released her debut cd titled "Sea Sew" and you can check out some of the tracks on her myspace.
